Blood sampling also at home

Although not strictly necessary for all blood chemistry tests, the patient must fast for at least 8 hours before the blood draw. Refrain from any beverages (tea, coffee), but water is permitted and recommended.

In the hours preceding the blood test, avoid intense physical activity and, as much as possible, stressful situations or excessive fasting.

Do not consume alcohol in the 12 hours before the test. Do not smoke. Do not change your eating habits the day before the test.

For drug monitoring, please agree with your doctor about taking any medications before the blood draw.

To avoid bruising, after the blood sample is taken, it is recommended to remain seated in the waiting room and hold the cotton swab firmly on the exact spot where the sample was taken, without rubbing or bending your arm, for a couple of minutes.
